Express Rice Pudding with the Rice You Have Left Over!
INGREDIENTES
HERRAMIENTAS
- + Medium pot.
- + Wooden spoon.
- + Bowls for serving.
INSTRUCCIONES
Step 1:
Combine everything in the pot. In a medium pot over medium heat, place the cooked rice. Don't worry if it's cold or compact, it will come loose in the heat.
Step 2:
Add the Milks and Flavors. Pour the whole can of evaporated milk and the can of condensed milk over the rice. Add the hazelnut cream, vanilla essence and cinnamon powder.
Step 3:
Lighten the Mixture. Add the cup of water. This will help the rice to hydrate again and the mixture will not be excessively thick at first.
Step 4:
Cook on a slow fire. With a wooden spoon, constantly stir all the ingredients so that they are well integrated. Cook for approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 5:
Achieve Creaminess. Keep stirring until the mixture boils gently and begins to thicken. The starch in the rice will work its magic and give it the perfect creamy consistency. Don't be scared if it looks like a soup at first, it will thicken!
Step 6:
Serve. Once it has the consistency of a creamy pudding, remove it from the heat. Serve it warm or let it cool down to enjoy it chilled.
Step 7:
The Final Touch. Just before serving, sprinkle generously with cinnamon powder.
TIPS
- + Trust the Process: As I mentioned in the video, it may seem very liquid at first, don't panic! Cooked rice is a sponge and will absorb liquid quickly. The key is to constantly remove so it doesn't stick.
- + Salted Rice: The fact that the rice already has salt and a touch of garlic from the day before is not a problem. The amount of sweetness in condensed milk and the powerful flavor of the rest of the ingredients balance it out perfectly, creating a very interesting contrast of flavors.
- + The Secret of Nutella: It's not traditional, but hazelnut cream gives it an incredible depth of chocolate flavor and helps with creaminess. It's a touch that will surprise everyone!
- + Consistency to Your Taste: You can play with consistency. If you prefer it thicker, cook it for another couple of minutes. If you like it lighter, you can add an extra splash of evaporated milk or water.
